Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. was the oldest of four siblings and was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 1953, the Bidens moved to Claymont, Delaware, from Pennsylvania. He participated on the New Castle County Council after earning degrees from the University of Delaware and Syracuse Law School.
