Visenya and Rhaenys Targaryen were sister-wives to Aegon the Conqueror; each played an important role in the Targaryen conquest and unification of Westeros. Each queen brought different qualities to the Targaryen rule: Visenya, the elder, was a fierce warrior, wielding the Valyrian steel sword Dark Sister, and was known for her political cleverness and strict sense of justice. The younger, more tender sister, Rhaenys, was skilled in diplomacy, for which the people adored her. While Visenya personified martial strength and loyalty through the vision of Aegon, Rhaenys typified grace as well as the softer side of rulership.
