George R.R. Martin

George R.R. Martin is an American novelist and screenwriter who has gained even greater fame, probably because of his series A Song of Ice and Fire, which inspired the Game of Thrones on HBO. Born in 1948, Martin fostered his love of storytelling through early work in fantasy and science fiction. The complexity of his characters, the intrigue of plots, and richly imagined world-building have garnered him comparisons to J.R.R. Tolkien. Along with Game of Thrones, Martin worked as a television writer, much of the time on science fiction series such as The Twilight Zone. His writing often subverted tropes within the fantasy genre, placing him as one of the most influential writers of his time.
