Burroughs, founded in 1886, became famous for its innovative computing solutions, especially in bank and financial systems. Its TC series incorporated itself so well with different mainframe systems that it became a cornerstone in industries requiring continuous operations, such as banking. Sperry is a company established in 1910, specialising in electronics and computing, contributing to the military and commercial sectors. In 1986, Burroughs and Sperry joined together to form Unisys, their merged forces boded for a new epoch in technology delivery while ensuring innovation into computing and systems engineering for many generations to come.
